Sizzling Soul/R&B from this spectacular 8 piece band, indisputably the top soul outfit in the area playing top venues throughout the UK to a strong and loyal following. No Wakefield Festival is complete without this lot, frontman Bob is the archetypal showman, whipping up the audience to a frenzy, while Mickey Doonan shows what Sax in the city is all about. We had to get them to headline..it would have been rude not to.... Blistering upbeat blues from this definitive Wakefield band playing throughout the UK at major blues venues and festivals. Rock solid rhythms from Dr`s Dave and Mick perfectly frame Dr Rod`s renowned blues guitar, dispensed with a shot of hot harmonica from "Gobiron Ryan" and the famous Dr Blue sardonic humour. Playing later this year at The Great British R&B Festival in Colne.
The Flying Seamen are longstanding Wakefield favourites and veterans of innumerable Festivals, they were an obvious first choice for this cream of Wakefield lineup, and as they have now become unexpectedly available we are delighted to welcome them aboard. Good time fun band playing a wide range of material from soul and R&B to rock and pop favourites, with gravel tonsilled Ginna giving Joe Cocker an amiable run for his money.
STOP PRESS: A track from THE HEAT to be featured on the BBC RAW TALENT Show (92.4FM) on Thursday 1st July between 7pm and 10pm, to promote the event.
We needed a cracking good band to open the Festival and get the audience down there and in the mood for a full day of great entertainment. The Rob Donnelly Band is all set to do just that. Rob is a longstanding and highly rated Blues guitarist/vocalist from downtown Harrogate, who`s toured the States, been there, done that and cleaned his guitar with the T-Shirt! He appears regularly at The Ferryboat Inn as a solo act, but today you get the chance to see him in full swing with his band, playing Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Peter Green and originals.
Well known and respected acoustic rock duo, playing original material spiced with covers. Paul and Lynne are a popular couple, and talented songwriters to boot, with a strong local following. To quote Dave Kidman "Genuine songwriting revealing moments of genius, truthful lyrics and bittersweet harmonies". |
